FAQ's
Everything you need to know about riding the Kona swells. We answer common questions about our lessons, equipment, and ocean logistics.
What should I bring to my lesson?
Just bring your swimsuit, a towel, water-resistant reef safe sunscreen, and your excitement! We provide everything else, including professional surfboards, leashes, and rash guards, and water shoes.
How long are the surf lessons?
All sessions are 1.5 hours. This includes a brief land-based safety and technique overview followed by maximum dedicated time in the water catching waves.
Are the lessons safe for absolute beginners?
Absolutely. We conduct our lessons at Kahalu'u Beach, known for its gentle, rolling waves. Our local instructors are all CPR/First Aid certified and stay right by your side.
Is there an age requirement for surfers?
We welcome surf spirits of all ages! Typically, we teach from age 5 and up. Get in touch with us for any exceptions/modifications or special needs. We recommend private lessons for children under 10 to ensure the highest level of safety and focus.
What is your cancellation policy?
We offer a full refund for cancellations made at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled lesson. Cancellations made within 48 hours are not eligible for a refund, but we are happy to provide site credit or help reschedule your lesson. Cancellations within 24 hours or no-shows will incur a $50 cancellation fee per booking.
How does the booking process work?
Simply click 'Book Now', select your session type and preferred time, and checkout online. You'll receive an instant confirmation email with meet-up location and details.
Do I need to be a strong swimmer?
You should be comfortable in the ocean and able to swim basic distances. Most beginner instruction takes place in waist-deep water to ensure you feel secure while learning.
What happens if there are no waves?
If ocean conditions are unsafe or lack waves suitable for instruction, we will contact you to reschedule your session or provide a full 100% refund of your booking.
